Assam is green.
The Brahmaputra and Barak valleys and Cachar are inhabited by various tribes including Assamese Bengali Boro. Mountains, rivers, forests, tea gardens are some of the attractions here. A few days ago, I went on a trip to Assam again due to its natural beauty. There is great diversity in this state of India. That is why I go to Assam again and again. Bangladeshis call Assam ‘Assam’. The people there are unequal. This time the journey is another way. I came to Agartala through Akhaura. The day after spending the night, I prepared to go to Assam. I got on the evening bus and reached Silchar in Assam the next morning. The distance from Agartala to Silchar is 316 km. I went to the hotel entertainment at Steamer Ghat here. Meals were also arranged at this hotel. Silchar is a well-arranged town on the banks of the river Barak. Bengalis live here more. It can be called the main city of Bengal. The headquarters of Kachar district of Assam is located in Silchar. In the afternoon I went to Gandhibagh. I went here and saw Shaheed Pillar and Medical College. That day was Sunday. The driver said, if you go to Sri Sri Kancha Kanti Devi Mandir in Udharband, you will see puja today. Hearing this, I got in the car and walked towards the temple. I went and saw the people. How many people are entering the temple. I entered too. What a wonderful structure of this temple. Meanwhile kirtan songs are being sung. Then I was even happier. Nearby is the ashram of Brajmohan Goswami. Standing in front of it, someone said, go under that tree, express any wish Ñ you will see it will be fulfilled.
Leaving the ashram, I came to Khaspur, 3 km away. Khaspur was the ruined capital of the Kachari kings of the 16th century. Meanwhile, seeing that evening had come down, I returned to Silchar. The next day I went to see the Maniharan tunnel with the memory of Sri Krishna. It is next to the river Tribeni. Fairs and festivals are held here during Shivaratri, Dolayatra and Baruni. Haflong, 112 km from Silchar, is one of the hill resorts in Assam at an altitude of 60 m. It took 5 hours by bus to reach Haflong by road. I got up at the tourist lodge. The headquarters of the North Kacha Hill District is located in this Haflong. The natural environment here is extraordinary. The town around Haflong Lake. From here I went by boat. In the mountains I saw a scattering of different species of orchids. I went to the Jatinga railway station, 9 km away, and heard that between August and November, colorful migratory birds come in groups. Then those who come there see the heartbreaking scene. Tribesmen in death traps. They beat birds with bamboo. And the tribes eat the meat of these birds. I got on the evening bus from Haflong. This time the journey is to Naogaon. 14 km away from this city is the birthplace of the great Vaishnava reformer Shri Shankar Dev. That’s the way to go there. I also saw the temple in Bardhaya. Tezpur is 65 km away from Naogaon. I already knew that Tezpur, the headquarters of Shonitpur district on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, is the most beautiful city in Assam. I came here to the Assam Tourism Tourist Lodge. I was overwhelmed to see the beautiful natural environment of Tezpur. Shonitpur of the past is the present Tezpur. Tezpur was the capital of the mythical Banasur. When I visited here, I saw some stone monuments on Bamuni hill, Daparbatiya gate, ruins of 5th century Gupta period arch, Mahabhairavi temple, Kole Park Agnigarh hill. After spending 2 days in Tezpur, we headed towards Dibrugarh. Dibrugarh is one of the commercial cities of Assam. I came here and saw the tea garden with my mind full. Dibrugarh is also a Bengali inhabited city. The river Brahmaputra flows by the side of this city. I stayed here at Natraj Hotel. From Dibrgarh, you can cross the Brahmaputra by ferry and reach Sonarighat by bus to Pashighat and Alang in Arunachal Pradesh Ñ but I did not go there on purpose and came to Tin Sukhiya. The distance from Dibrugarh to Tin Sukiya is only 48 km. Very small town. We spent one night here at the Palace Hotel. I went to Duliakhan here and saw the oil mine. There are also oil mines in Naharkatia.
Shivsagar is 124 km away from Tin Sukia. It is the district town. I came here to the Assam Tourism Tourist Lodge. In the past, the first capital of the Ahom kings was at Charaikeo, 26 km from Shivsagar. Built by Sukafa, the founder of the Ahom dynasty in 1253, the capital still has monuments, I went there to see. In Shivsagar I also saw a huge 200 year old huge water body i.e. Shivsagar. Next to it is Shivdol temple. Built in 1834 by Ahraj Shiva Singh, this Shiva temple is the tallest temple in India. The festival is held here on Shivaratri. Going here, I saw Vishnudol and Devidol temples on both sides of it. There is also the two-storied Royal Pavilion, built by Ahamaraj Pramatta Singh. At one time the ego kings would sit on it and watch the elephants fight. One afternoon I visited Kairang Ghar near Shivsagar, Joy Sagar Reservoir, Mandir, Gauri Sagar Reservoir, Namdang Stone Bridge.
56 km after seeing Shivsagar. I came to a distant Jorhat. I stayed here at the Eastern Hotel. Tea gardens all around, I found a great variety in the city of Jorhat. In the afternoon I came to see the tea plant research center and the agricultural university. I went to Majuli Island here and met a Vaishnava. In words, the relationship between the two became more intense. He also sang kirtan to me. The road went from Majuli to North Lakhimpur. Distance 40 km. I went to North Lakhimpur and found out that the distance from here to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, is only 56 km. After spending one night in North Lakhimpur, I came to Golghat via Jorhat. From there I came to Karimganj on the border through Silchar. Zakiganj of Bangladesh is on the other side of it. What happens if you want to return to the country along that path. The way I came is the way back to Agartala. Then I returned to Dhaka through Akhaura.
