When we travel to neighboring India, our main attraction is Darjeeling, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Goa, or the Taj Mahal in Agra. Some of them are expensive and many of us cannot go because of limited income. The Indian state of Tripura could be an ideal destination for all those travel thirsty.

Agartala, the capital of Tripura, is very close to the land port of Akhaura in our Brahmanbaria district. Anyone from Bangladesh who goes to Agartala will be amazed at the manner in which the city dwellers speak and behave. Some may not think that it is a city outside Bangladesh. There is no lack of reception and sincerity for Bangladeshis. This Agartala city and all the wonderful places of interest outside of it. The best time to visit them is from October to March.

Ujjayanta Palace

The two-storied palace is located in the heart of the city of Agartala over an area of ​​about half a mile. Built-in a mixed architectural style, the palace is surrounded by three dome-shaped notched Mughal-era designs, the middle of which is 6 feet high. Construction of this lovely and picturesque palace began in 1899 and was completed in 1901. At that time its construction cost was 1 million Indian rupees. Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya Bahadur Ujjayanta was the main initiator of the construction of the palace. There are two lakes on either side of the main building. On the banks of the lake are forests of teak, Shirish, Kadai, and shawl trees. Right in the middle of the entrance to the palace is a beautiful garden with fountains and sculptures. Rows and rows of rooms inside the palace. Each of these has a different name – Shwetmahal, Lalmahal, Sadar Bari, Tahbil Khana, Aram Ghar, Panthshala, etc. This palace was named after the poet Rabindranath Tagore. The building now houses the Tripura State Legislative Assembly. There are also some government offices there.

Kunjaban Palace

Another beautiful architectural masterpiece in Agartala is the beautiful Kunjaban Palace, as pictured by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya (1909 to 1923), one mile north of Ujjayanta Palace. This palace was originally built for the leisure and solitude of various maharajas and their guests. On his seventh and last visit to Agartala in 1928, the poet Rabindranath Tagore stayed in the apartment on the east side of Kunjaban Palace. From the last boundary of the circular verandah attached to this east, a distant view of the Baramura hills can be seen. After the Tripura state government acquired the palace, it is now being used as the residence of the state governor. To the north-east of the Kunjaban Palace are a luxurious resort and the resting place of the Tripura kings during the Manikya rule. There are also underground rooms.

Sepahijla Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is located about 25 km away from Agartala city. The sanctuary is located in a large area and has all the birds and monkeys in sight. There are botanical gardens, zoos, lakes and huge species of trees. The sanctuary is covered with dense greenery throughout the year. In addition to the common monkeys, you can see monkeys with small tails, capped leopards, spectacled leopards, etc. In addition to the wildlife sanctuary, there is also a research center. The chirping of 150 species of native and guest birds will captivate your eyes. Different parts of the sanctuary have different types of habitats for different types of animals and birds. Kamalasagar Lake

A huge lake near the Bangladesh border which was dug by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in the fifteenth century. The famous Kali temple built in the sixteenth century is located on the border of this lake. Huge fairs are held in the temple premises in April and August every year. Many fans and tourists gather from far and wide to see it. Kamalasagar Lake is one of the best picnic spots in the entire state of Tripura for its breathtaking natural beauty. For religious reasons, it is a special attraction for pilgrims in India and outside India. Its distance from Agartala city is about 30 kilometers

Nirmahal

According to many, Nirmahal is the best tourist destination in the state of Tripura. If you don’t go here, but a trip to Tripura will be completely in vain. Its location is about 53 km away from the capital Agartala. Nirmahal stands like a fairytale palace in the middle of a lake called Rudra Sagar. You have to reach Nirmahal of your dreams by boat. It is the only waterfront palace in the whole of North-East India. There is a government tourist resort called Sagarmahal on the east bank of Rudra Sagar, which is located opposite Nirmahal. Neither Nirmahal Palace nor Rudra Sagar is inferior in terms of beauty. And the beauty of Nirmahal at night is incomparable. Seen from a distance, it will look like a dream city of fantasy. The whole building has been illuminated in such a way that it looks as if a golden swan made by a skilled artist is floating in the water. And it doesn’t matter if it is night. Navigating the Rudra Sea will double the pleasure of your trip. One wonders why the place is called Nirmahal. It is called Nirmahal because of the location of the palace in the water. The creator Maharaja Birbikram Kishore Manikya gave this name. If you don’t stay here overnight but you can’t enjoy the true nature of beauty. Sagar Mahal can safely rely on tourist accommodation for accommodation. Being a government institution, the cost is not too high.

Dambur Lake

Dambur Lake is about 120 km away from Agartala city

Location. The beauty of this 41 sq km wetland covered with eye-catching forests is further enhanced by the 47 islands located in it. Additional attractions include the chirping of guest birds and various water sports facilities. There is a hydroelectric project at the source of the river Gumti (Tirthamukh) near this lake. The famous ‘Poush Sankranti Mela’ is held here on 14th January every year. Two separate rivers – Raima and Sarma – have met at Dambur Lake. In winter, various species of guest birds gather here. The lake is also a large reservoir of natural and farmed fish.

Jampui Hills

Jampui Hills has become one of the top tourist destinations in the state of Tripura due to its amazing natural beauty and cool weather. The area is about 218 km away from Agartala. It is about 3 thousand feet above sea level. The Sylhet division of Bangladesh is on the north side and the Chittagong division is on the south side. The Jampui Range lies between the two neighboring Indian states of Tripura and Mizoram. The indigenous people of Jampui Hills are the indigenous Riang and Sikam communities of Tripura. The Sikams have again settled in ten villages, namely Fuldang Sai, Chabwal, Thiang Sang, Bangla Ban, Behang Chip, Bhangmun, Lakshmi, Munpui, Mung Huang and Bhai Sum. These villages are located at different heights of the hills. Tidy and hospitable Mizora is more educated and Christian than other indigenous peoples in the state. The Jampui Hills area produces high-quality oranges. It is in great demand in the market because of its excellent taste and juice. The famous bamboo dance of Mizo here will take away all the monotony of your busy life in a blink of an eye and make your mind fresh and lively. The Belting Sib in the Jampui Hills is the highest point in the entire state of Tripura. When you stand here and see the surrounding landscape, you will never know when you will be lost in the realm of imagination. Here you will see a Shiva temple built by the kings of Tripura 1400 years ago. It is a sacred place for the people of Tripura.

You can take a train from anywhere in the country to Akhaura station in Brahmanbaria and reach the border check post by rickshaw. After completing the formalities of the check post, go straight to Agartala by autorickshaw.

The Eden Tourist Lodge is the main resort in the Jampui Hills area. However, due to a lack of seats, advance booking is required.
